Use your HR KSAs (knowledge, skills and abilities) to help people in the community! Join Philly SHRM’s Emerging HR Leaders at our Hand-Crafted Brewing and Relationship Building Event on April 16th at 2nd Story Brewery! The Emerging Leaders group is for individuals with 0-8 years of HR experience, including current college students interested in working in HR after graduation. You will enjoy networking with your HR peers while sharing insights and support. You’ll have the opportunity to meet new people in a relatively similar stage of their HR career and build a network for future opportunities! Come prepared to enjoy a night of fun and networking with local HR professionals and your peers! Registration includes fun networking opportunities, great food and one drink ticket (good for beer or wine).

  • We will be meeting in the Alter lobby at 5:45 tomorrow. Relay for Life registration
  • Registration is closed, but if you are still interested in coming to the event, registration will be open at the doors for $20.

What should you bring?!

A reusable water bottle – we’ll have stations to refill them to keep you hydrated all night! Remember, there is no alcohol allowed at this event, so please make sure the water bottle you bring is empty or sealed. Any open containers will have to be dumped at the door.

Money – this is a fundraiser, remember?! Make sure to bring some extra money for food and to support team fundraisers. We’ll be accepting credit cards as payment for registration at the door, luminaria sales, and raffle sales, but you’ll need cash for the other event activities and team fundraisers. If your team has been fundraising (thank you!), and you have cash or checks to hand in, please bring them tonight! If you have a lot of coin, and have a chance, please run into the PNC on Liacouras to cash them in!

Overnight supplies – We encourage you to bring pillows, blankets, and anything else to keep your team comfy until 3am! Games and entertainment, i.e. cards, board games, hula hoops, etc.(we will also have some, but the more the merrier!) Some food has been donated and some teams will be selling food as a fundraiser, but outside snacks are permitted. It’s a long event–please don’t starve yourselves!

Supplies for your team fundraiser – We’re asking that each team have some sort of fundraiser planned for tonight. Please bring whatever type of supplies you’ll need for your team’s fundraiser. Remember, the theme this year is Superheroes, so be creative and build that into your fundraiser!

  • Survivor Reception: 7pm

  • Opening Ceremonies: 8pm

  • Luminaria Ceremony: 9pm

  • First Round of Mr. Relay: 9:45pm

    • Following Rounds: 11:15pm, 12:15am

  • Zumba: 11:45pm

  • Closing Ceremonies: 2:30am

  • Throughout the night:

    • Cherry & White Games sponsored by the Cherry Crusade and Temple Student Government

    • Performances by Pitch, Please; TU Tappers; and the Irish Dance Club

    • Themed Laps

    • Games and contests and prizes!

**Registration will be open until 11pm; however, we encourage you to come before 8pm to enjoy the whole event! The doors will close at 11pm! If you leave after 11pm, you can’t come back in.

Wednesday, April 8th
This Wednesday’s meeting will be reserved for banquet preparations which will include brainstorming potential sponsors for door prizes, completing banquet program materials and developing table games for the banquet on the 17th.
 
Annual SHRM Banquet – Next Friday, April 17th
Next Friday, April 17th, we will be having our annual SHRM Banquet with professionals, faculty and students from all around Philadelphia. Feel free to sign up if you have not already here.
 
Emerging Leaders Program
The Emerging Leaders Student Mentoring Program is back for Spring 2015! Here is the application for the Philly SHRM Student Mentoring Mentee Application for those who are interested in being mentored by Human Resources Professionals with 1-8 years of experience. The applications are due to phillyshrmmentoring@gmail.com by Friday, April 10th at 8pm. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Mock Interviews
Next Thursday, April 16th The Community Education Center has given us this amazing opportunity to help conduct interviews. We will be helping individuals from around the community brush up on their interview skills and help teach them how to make a good impression. The dress is business professional and is going to be from 4 to 5:30 pm next Thursday. The Entertainment and Community Education Center is located at 1509 Cecil B. Moore Avenue, 2nd Floor, Philadelphia, PA 19121.
